Rejuvenate Your Neck and Jawline With a Neck Lift in Thousand Oaks

As we get older, the neck tends to be one of the areas where signs of aging become the most visible. Over time, the skin starts to lose elasticity, which can cause it to sag. That can create the dreaded “turkey neck” appearance while also weakening your jawline and profile appearance. If you’re seeking an effective way to enhance the contours of your neck and restore your firm, sculpted jawline, you may want to consider undergoing a neck lift at Elevate Plastic Surgery.

What Is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift, also known as platysmaplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the neck and jawline by removing excess skin and fat. The procedure is primarily used to reduce loose, sagging skin and other signs of aging around the neck, creating a more youthful, contoured appearance.

Benefits of a Neck Lift

A neck lift is an impactful procedure that can provide all of the following benefits:

  • A more youthful-looking neck and lower face
  • Enhanced neck contours
  • A firmer, more defined jawline
  • Improved profile appearance
  • Improvement of “turkey neck” appearance
  • Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightening of loose, sagging skin
  • Long-lasting, natural-looking results
  • Improved self-confidence

What to Expect During Your Neck Lift Surgery

Before undergoing a neck lift, you’ll need to have a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Rahgozar to discuss the procedure and go over your aesthetic goals. He will also ask you about your current health, medical history, and any medications you’re taking to ensure you’re a good candidate for the surgery.

To begin the procedure, you will be placed under general anesthesia, which means that you will be asleep throughout the surgery. Dr. Rahgozar will make incisions behind your ears and possibly under your chin to access the muscles and tissues in your neck.

The length and placement of the incisions will depend on your individual needs and goals. He will then tighten the muscles in your neck to create a more defined and youthful contour. The procedure may also involve the excision of excess skin and/or liposuction to suction out stubborn fat deposits. Once the muscles and tissues have been repositioned, Dr. Rahgozar will close the incisions before bandaging the area. Finally, you will be monitored for up to a few hours in the recovery room. After that, you can get a ride home from a friend or family member.

What Is the Recovery After a Neck Lift?

After a neck lift, you may experience mild discomfort, swelling, or bruising in the treated area. The degree of discomfort and swelling will vary depending on the extent of the surgery, but most patients find that they can manage their pain with over-the-counter pain medication.

If necessary, Dr. Rahgozar can prescribe something stronger to alleviate the pain. To reduce swelling, you will be asked to wear a compression garment, and you should also sleep with your head elevated for the first couple of weeks.

In most cases, patients need approximately one to two weeks of rest after a neck lift before easing back into their normal routines. Although you should be able to return to work after a week or two, strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least four to six weeks.

How long do the results of a neck lift last?

The longevity of a neck lift depends on several factors, including the patient's age, skin quality, and lifestyle choices. Generally, the effects of the procedure will last for at least 10 to 15 years, but the natural aging process will eventually cause some degree of sagging and wrinkling to recur. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and protecting the skin from sun damage can help prolong the results of your neck lift.
